{"id":138273,"date":"2023-12-05T11:01:28","date_gmt":"2023-12-05T16:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=138273"},"modified":"2023-12-05T11:05:26","modified_gmt":"2023-12-05T16:05:26","slug":"ucfpd-adds-3-new-officers-to-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucfpd-adds-3-new-officers-to-team\/","title":{"rendered":"UCFPD Adds 3 New Officers to Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UCF Public Safety team welcomed its newest patrol officers at a swearing-in ceremony attended by family, friends and colleagues last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the UCF Police Department, we strive to be the most professional and innovative campus police department in the country,\u201d says UCF Police Chief<strong> Carl Metzger \u201903MS<\/strong>. \u201cWe do that by hiring the best and the brightest \u2026 and UCFPD is in great hands with the addition of these three officers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new officers will be assigned to the patrol division upon completion of their field-training program, where they will spend several weeks paired with senior officers to receive hands-on experience out in the field before graduating to solo patrol.<\/p>\n<h3>Meet the Officers<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Adriel Rivera Aponte previously served with the St. Cloud Police Department after graduating from Dr. Phillips High School. Originally from Puerto Rico, he now calls Orlando home and is looking forward to building a positive relationship between students and law enforcement while getting to know the UCF community.<\/li>\n<li>Jonathan Mattingly comes to UCFPD after serving with the Oviedo Police Department for several years. He chose to make the switch to UCF after working closely with UCFPD officers during events like game day. He appreciated that he was always treated like family and looks forward to engaging with students.<\/li>\n<li>Michael Rivera graduated from Valencia College and previously served as a deputy sheriff with Seminole County.
