{"id":111492,"date":"2020-07-31T09:48:41","date_gmt":"2020-07-31T13:48:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/?p=111492"},"modified":"2024-08-27T10:43:18","modified_gmt":"2024-08-27T14:43:18","slug":"ucf-monitoring-storm-isaias","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/news\/ucf-monitoring-storm-isaias\/","title":{"rendered":"UCF Monitoring Hurricane Isaias"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UCF&#8217;s Emergency Management team actively monitors severe weather and is tracking Hurricane Isaias.<\/p>\n<p>Hurricane Isaias is forecast to move northward along or near the East Central Florida coastline Saturday and Sunday, bringing heavy rain and inland wind gusts of 35-55 miles per hour.<\/p>\n<p>The Emergency Management team is in communication with our local National Weather Service office in Melbourne, NOAA and the National Hurricane Center to ensure the university has the latest information.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s always a good idea to have a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/hurricane\/preparedness\/\"> hurricane kit ready for the season<\/a>, which lasts through November. Include enough food and water for three days, and don&#8217;t forget medications, identification and a weather radio.<\/p>\n<p>The #UCFAlert text and email message system will be used to keep the university community notified of severe weather threats. All students and employees automatically are signed up to receive these messages, and settings can be updated via <a href=\"https:\/\/my.ucf.edu\">myUCF<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, updates will be shared on UCF\u2019s official social media channels, primarily Facebook\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UCF\/\">UCF<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UCFPolice\/\">UCFPD<\/a>) and Twitter (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ucf\">@UCF<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UCFPolice\">@UCFPolice<\/a>), and at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/\">ucf.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s each do our part by staying aware and prepared, and together, we\u2019ll make UCF a safer place for all of
