UCF is a participant in the Benacquisto Scholarship program.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible scholars will receive an award equal to the institutional cost of attendance for an in-state student minus the sum of Bright Futures and the National Merit award. Out-of-state students will receive an award equal to the in-state cost of attendance minus their National Merit award. These students are exempt from paying out-of-state tuition and fees. <strong>An initial application is not required.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mt-4 mb-4\">Eligibility Requirements<\/h2>\n<p class=\"h6 letter-spacing-3 text-uppercase mb-4\">A student who is a Florida resident seeking initial funding must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Earn a standard Florida high school diploma or its equivalency (unless the student completes a home education program or earns a high school diploma from a non-Florida high school while living with a parent who is on military or public service assignment away from Florida).<\/li>\n<li>Be a National Merit Scholar.<\/li>\n<li>Enroll at an eligible Florida postsecondary institution during the Fall academic term following high school graduation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"h6 letter-spacing-3 text-uppercase my-4\">A National Merit Finalist becomes a Scholar by receiving:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A National Merit $2500 Scholarship,<\/li>\n<li>A Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship, or<\/li>\n<li>A College-sponsored Merit Scholarship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"alert alert-info my-4\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p class=\"mb-0\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> \u201cSpecial\u201d Corporate Scholarships and \u201cPresidential\u201d awards do not qualify a student for the Benacquisto Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-0\">Effective for 2022-2023 the Benacquisto Scholarship will no longer be award to out of state students<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<p class=\"h6 letter-spacing-3 text-uppercase my-4\">All students will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen (as determined by the institution).<\/li>\n<li>Enroll full-time (minimum 12 credit hours per term or quarter equivalency) in a baccalaureate degree program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"mt-4 mb-4 h4\">Exceptions to Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>Students with less than 12 credit hours required for graduation, may receive the Benacquisto Scholarship by submitting a memo on letterhead from an student success coach indicating:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Student\u2019s name and UCFID<\/li>\n<li>Semester graduation is expected<\/li>\n<li>Less than 12 hours are required for graduation.<\/li>\n<li>Attention to the Benacquisto Scholarship Department<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Submit your memo using the Document and File Uploader tool and select the routing option:<strong> Bright Futures \/ Benacquisto Scholarships<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<section class=\"ucf-section ucf-section-general-eligibility-callout mb-4 mb-md-5\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"card card-outline-info\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"card-block d-flex align-items-start\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<span class=\"lead mr-3 d-flex align-items-start\">\t\t\t<span class=\"fa fa-info-circle text-info\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/span>\n\t\t<\/span><br \/>\n<span>Before you apply for any type of financial assistance, make sure you meet the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucf.edu\/financial-aid\/receive\/eligibility\/\">general eligibility requirements<\/a>.<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\n<h2 class=\"mt-4 pt-4 mb-4\">Terms of the Scholarship<\/h2>\n<p>This program will provide funds for 100 percent of the number of credit hours required to complete a baccalaureate degree program, or until completion of a baccalaureate degree program, whichever comes first.<\/p>\n<p>A student is eligible to receive an award for a maximum of 10 semesters or 15 quarters. A student must maintain enrollment at the institution where the student was initially funded in order to maintain scholarship eligibility.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mt-4 pt-4 mb-4\">Award Amounts<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\" col-lg-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>Eligible students will receive an annual award equal to the institutional cost of attendance (COA), minus the sum of the Bright Futures (BF) award and National Merit Achievement Award (NM).<\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"card d-inline-block mb-4\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"card-block\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p class=\"mb-0\"><var>Benacquisto Scholarship Program<\/var> = <var>COA<\/var> \u2013 (<var>BF<\/var> + <var>NM<\/var>)<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\" col-lg-6\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>Out-of-state students will receive an award equal to the in-state on-campus cost of attendance, minus their National Merit award. These students are exempt from paying the out-of-state fees.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"card d-inline-block mb-4\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"card-block\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\t\n<p class=\"mb-0\"><var>Benacquisto Scholarship Program<\/var> = <var>COA<\/var> \u2013 <var>NM<\/var><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n<p>The award may not be used to pay for remedial coursework or developmental education. The award is not available to fund summer coursework.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mt-4 pt-4 mb-4\">Renewal Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Eligibility for renewal is determined at the end of the second semester of the academic year (end of Spring Term).<\/p>\n<p>For automatic renewal, an award recipient will have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Earned credit for all hours enrolled by the regular drop\/add period each term.<\/li>\n<li>Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In order for the credit hours to be counted as \u201cearned hours\u201d, the student must earn successful grades such as A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C- and D+, D, D-. Grades NC and F will not result in earned credit hours. Withdrawn courses will not result in earned credit hours.<\/p>\n<p>A student who does not meet the required hours or GPA shall be ineligible to continue in the program.<\/p>\n<section id=\"Benacquisto-Appeal-Process\" class=\"auto-section\" data-section-link-title=\"Appeal Process\">\n<h2 class=\"mt-4 pt-4 mb-4\">Scholarship Appeal Process<\/h2>\n<p>If a student did not meet the Benacquisto Scholarship Program renewal requirements due to a verifiable illness or other emergencies, the student may file a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ucf.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_3xC4eGYEYx44ZNQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State Programs and Scholarships Appeal<\/a> with our office. The medical or emergency circumstances that affected the semester(s) in question must be documented.
