Research supports that active learning strategies improve student learning outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>UCF is moving to a model where all classrooms can better support active learning methods of teaching. Active learning is not a technology, nor a furniture solution. This means you can have a computer in every class that already has your applications, documents, and other personalization preferences set up the way you want them, every time, every course, every semester.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The multimedia equipment is smaller and in a corner, out of the way<\/strong> of the students and faculty so that almost the entire room becomes usable floor space for teaching and learning activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are multiple whiteboards throughout the room.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>There is a projector in every room<\/strong>, just as there are in existing classrooms. Some rooms have additional monitors on the other walls that will mirror the content on the projector. The project was approved by the Florida Board of Governors in 2016, and design and build teams were selected that summer. Construction began in downtown Orlando in Summer 2017. Most rooms offer a variety of setups with comfortable furniture and presentation equipment for meetings of all sizes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are four types of rooms at UCF Downtown that can be requested for use.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Group Study Rooms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Primarily located on the first floor of the Dr. Phillips Academic Commons (DPAC) East Wing, group study rooms can accommodate up to five people. Rooms have tables, chairs and a flat-screen monitor. Bring your own laptop or other mobile device to use the monitor.<\/p>\n<p>For same-day scheduling, use the touch panel located on the wall outside of each room to reserve the space for up to two hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conference Rooms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most conference rooms seat up to 12 people and come with monitors and flexible setups\u2014just bring your own laptop or device to connect.<\/p>\n<p>Rooms can be reserved through the <a href=\"https:\/\/ucf.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_5aN7W6qjzoY1VQi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Special Request Form<\/a> or by sending a calendar appointment to the room number (Ex: DPAC-451@ucf.edu) through Microsoft Outlook (UCF students, faculty, and staff only). Some rooms may have limited access if located within specific department or college suites.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Classrooms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our classrooms come in different sizes and setups, all equipped with a computer, projector, and HDMI connections for your laptop or device. Rooms seat between 25 and 180 people.<\/p>\n<p>Want to reserve a classroom?
