Environmental Engineering at UCF

At the graduate level, UCF offers a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Engineering through the Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering. Areas of study include drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, atmospheric pollution control and modeling, environmental water resources, and stormwater management.

The program offers an intensive, individually tailored research program suitable for the development of an academic or similar research-oriented career. With this degree, you can gain technical knowledge in critical areas of environmental engineering,

Research Facilities

Environmental labs and research opportunities include water quality, advanced wastewater treatment, drinking water treatment, membrane filtration, wastewater and natural system sensors and probes, environmental health, interface of water resources and environmental engineering, energy-food-water nexus, and air pollution control strategies for mobile and energy sources.

Where Do Graduates Work?

Graduates of the program will have formed and maintained partnerships with industry, government agencies, and professional organizations, and have developed an awareness of the changing environmental needs of society and the global environment. With a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from UCF, you can prepare to work for regulatory agencies such as the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Environmental Protection Agency, academia, environmental science and health agencies, consulting firms and more.

Course Overview

Physical/Chemical Treatment Systems in Environmental Engineering

Explore the theory and design of physical and chemical operations and processes in environmental engineering using latest technologies.

Delve into the theory and design of biological operations and processes in environmental engineering using the latest technologies.

Atmospheric composition and dynamics. Engineering methods of mathematical modeling, both for point source and mobile source. Current computer models will be used.
