Asia is the powerhouse that is home to the world’s most influential companies and fastest-growing industries in robotics, aerospace, medical technology, advanced manufacturing, transportation, machinery and game design. Samsung, Hyundai, LG, Huawei, Xiaomi, BYD, Infosys, Toyota, Nintendo and Mitsubishi are global leaders in a rapidly evolving global market. Understanding Asian cultures, economies, and societies gives students a competitive advantage in an increasingly interconnected global workforce.
While preparing students to become competitive members of the global workforce, the Asian Studies minor also offers invaluable intellectual knowledge passed from generation to generation and treasured across the humanities. From intercultural competence and communication skills to spiritual philosophy, the Asian Studies Minor gives students opportunities to appreciate what it means to be a human being.
UCF also offers transformative experiential learning opportunities through programs such as and . Located in Orlando, a multicultural hub with numerous Asia-based companies and year-round cultural events, the UCF Asian Studies minor provides students with valuable opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom.
The Asian Studies minor was more than an additional area of study. It became one of the main bridges between my interests, my Computer Science degree, my study abroad experiences, and the future I hope to build.鈥
